Top Home Treatments for Vaginal Infections

Though a vaginal infection can be bothersome, you can easily treat it at home on your own. Once you suspect that you have one, go ahead and begin treatment so that it doesn’t get any worse.

However, if are currently pregnant, you should see your doctor before using any kind of medication or remedy. Sometimes, a vaginal infection isn’t a bad one and the body can naturally restore the balance on its own.

But for the times when that doesn’t happen, you can self-treat by using over the counter medications such as an antifungal cream.

Because the infection is caused by a fungus, you need to use something that has antifungal properties in it to eliminate the fungus and restore the balance within your vagina.

Because these types of infections are so common, you can buy this medication without a prescription. Just make sure that you look for one that contains clotrimazole.

If you’re someone who keeps getting reoccurring vaginal infections, then you need to see your doctor to make sure there’s no underlying health issue.

You can get the antifungal cream that you apply or you can get pills to swallow. If you don’t want to use medications, then you need to use probiotics.

You can find these in the form of tablets to swallow or as suppositories.

Some women choose to treat with probiotics by consuming yogurt. If you decide to do that, you’ll need to make sure that you eat it every day until you’re symptom free.

There are some natural herbs and oils that you can use from your local health food store.

But if you want something that’s known to be effective, then you need to choose either an antifungal treatment, a suppository containing boric acid or some type of feminine cleanser that can help to restore the balance within the vagina.

There are some other easy treatments that you can do to make the environment not as welcoming for the yeast.

If you wear silk underwear, then you need to switch to cotton until the infection is cleared up.

Whenever the vaginal area is too warm, it encourages the growth of the yeast. Stay away from things that are known to help yeast grow.

This would things like jeans that are too tight or any type of restrictive clothing that could cling to the area.

Don’t use feminine products that have any kind of scent to them because this can also prevent the healing of a yeast infection.

Also, you may have to stay away from products containing estrogen - such as hormone replacement therapy - since these are a known cause of yeast infections.
