Menopause Memory and Concentration Problems

Menopause comes with physical, emotional and even mental changes.

Thankfully, the latter two are usually temporary.

Still, you will have to cope with them if you want your life to continue normally.

Memory and concentration problems are common in menopausal women.

They are frustrating and often embarrassing, but they can be overcome.

Get enough sleep and stay relaxed.

Getting a sufficient amount of sleep should provide for the optimal functioning of your brain.

It will give you more energy as well so you will be able to do all daily tasks with greater ease.

Staying relaxed is essential as stress can really aggravate these menopause problems.

It is essential for you to adopt an effective stress management strategy.

Similarly, you may want to use meditation and exercise such as yoga for relaxation.

Make your diet more nutritional and avoid foods that can make the problems worse.

You literally have to nurture your brain to get rid of memory and concentration problems associated with menopause.

Getting amino acids from healthy protein sources is essential.

Legumes, eggs, chicken breast and lean veal are excellent sources.

You should eat plenty of fruits and vegetables as these are rich in all sorts of beneficial nutrients including antioxidants.

Avoid common brain boosters such as caffeine, caffeinated drinks and chocolate.

These provide just a temporary solution to the menopause problems related to memory and concentration.

When they are used excessively, they can make these problems worse.

Besides, these drinks and foods can aggravate hot flashes, mood swings and bladder incontinence.

Become better organized and use memory and concentration strategies.

Planning and scheduling the tasks for the day can really save you a lot of stress and trouble with your boss.

Write everything down in a diary or an electronic organizer.

If you use the latter, you can set alarms to remind you of important things which you need to do.

There is nothing embarrassing in using small paper notes in the office and at home, especially if you are under stress.

Working in a quiet environment without distractions can really help with concentration.

Setting target goals and finding motivation to reach them also works.

Consider natural estrogen remedies and possibly hormonal replacement therapy.

Flaxseed, soy and black cohosh are known to mimic the effects of estrogen and may really help you get rid of these and other common menopause symptoms.

If these do not work, you may consider taking estrogen pills or applying estrogen patches.

These should work to improve your overall wellbeing, memory and concentration.
